Rafts and Inflatable Kayaks

The Winthrop Scenic is a beautiful and calm float that begins right in the town of Winthrop and only takes up part of your day. This is a fantastic trip for those looking for a relaxing outing, or for those with younger or older folks in the group. This trip can be done in rafts (ages 6+) and/or inflatable kayaks (ages 10+). It is a great trip to learn to kayak or practice intermediate skills like catching eddies and surfing. Methow Rafting uses stable and inflatable sit-on-top kayaks that are perfect for beginners and experts alike. Highlights of the trip include a stunning view of Mt. Gardner (7000 feet above town), paddling through the confluence of the Methow River (often tinted blue with glacial silt) and the Chewuch River, and the possibility of bird, mammal, and fish sightings. Depending on the water level and weather, there is also the opportunity to swim in deep eddies. A handful of small rapids will offer tame splashes while most of the trip is a calm float. There’s no better way to spend part of your summer day in Winthrop than on a scenic float with Methow Rafting!

You will meet your guide at Mack Lloyd Park (aka The Red Barn Park) in Winthrop. Here you will be outfitted by your guides (all river gear is included), and given a safety talk and paddling instructions. After that you will push off and begin floating down the beautiful Methow River. Your trip will stop at a nice beach for a snack and refreshment break. At the take-out you will hop on the bus and be driven back to your car at the park, a ten minute ride.
