Finished for 2024 season

2025 season is open to book!

The Lower Methow Half-Day is a family favorite! It is a lower-valley float that is mellow and beautiful, an enjoyable, introductory stretch of river. This trip can be done in rafts (ages 6+) and/or inflatable kayaks (ages 16+). This trip meanders below the rolling golden foothills of the North Cascades and includes a few small rapids.

Check out our media page for more photos of what your adventure on the river can look like!

Only thirty-five minutes drive from both Winthrop and Chelan. Because it is two hours on the water, you’ll have plenty of time for another half-day activity to complete your day.

After getting geared up (all river gear is provided), you will hop on the bus and drive five minutes up-valley to the put-in. Your guide will give you a safety talk and review paddling techniques. After that you will push off and begin floating down the beautiful Methow River.

The meeting location is 1114 State Route 153, Methow, WA, 98834. Follow the signs for parking and outfitting.

FAQ for this trip

  • Depending on the water level the rapids can be a bit splashy. The rapids are small and channelized which means it is very beginner friendly and the pools in between rapids are abundant, large, and deep (great for swimming).

  • We have a couple of different raft sizes but typically a raft carries 6 paddlers plus a guide.

  • Yes! Your guide will be able to tell you when the best time is to jump off the boat into the refreshing Methow river! There are also a few place to stop to jump off some small rocks. Chances are high that you will see a salmon, trout, or white fish.

Meeting times and location: 9:30 am and 1:30 pm at the Methow Rafting Boathouse in the town of Methow (not the Methow Rafting Office in Winthrop). Once you arrive at our boathouse and have parked your car in our parking lot you do not need to worry about transportation for the trip.

  • The whole valley is a scenic section :) What is great about the Lower Methow section is that the rapids are not too big so you can relax and have an amazing view from your raft or kayak of the beautiful Methow valley.
